Homo Ludens: Surveying the Patterns of Culture and Leisure Activities in Ekaterinburg Population
Leisure and entertainment have become the key spheres of the everyday life. The concepts of “leisure-“or “post-labor” society date back to the 1950s. In the modern-day society, work is losing its role as a key identity marker. Instead, for many, leisure becomes the focus of interest, the source of identity and an ultimate indicator of the quality of life. In May 2010, the Ekaterinburg Academy of Contemporary Art launched a sociological survey, which aimed at examining 1. the existing demand in cultural and leisure services in Ekaterinburg; 2. the offer of cultural services by the municipally and regionally funded cultural institutions; 3. the levels of satisfaction on the part of the consumers with the accessibility and the quality of cultural services; 4. the strategies of consumer behavior on the part of various cultural subjects.
This is an ongoing project.

Continuing Education Program My Career – Creativity
This is an education program, which the Ekaterinburg Academy of Contemporary Art has launched in cooperation with the Department of Culture, the Ekaterinburg City Administration. The program targets the graduates of arts and music secondary schools, who plan on entering a college-level academic program in visual arts, dance and music. The goal of this program is to fill the gap between art education in secondary schools and in the higher education institutions, by offering the children preparatory-level classes in these areas.
